By Train

Arrive at Liverpool Central Station in the city centre, then take the Northern Line Kirkby train to Fazakerley Station. Exit the station and turn left onto the main road, Longmoor Lane , until reaching traffic lights. Turn right onto Lower Lane (signposted Fazakerley Hospital ), pass the hospital on the right and at the next traffic lights turn right into Higher Lane . HMP Altcourse is approx. 1/4 mile on your right.
By Bus

From the Liverpool city centre bus station Paradise Street bus interchange: stand 9 bus nos.20, or 21 to Longmoor Lane , then the 121 to the prison.
Alternatively the No 17 from Paradise Street bus interchange stand 5 to Fazakerley hospital , then the 121 to the prison.
Cycling
The Liverpool Loop line, (a part of the Trans Pennine Trail), runs parallel to the prison on Long Lane. This traffic free route has access points from Fazackerly, Aintree, Orrell Park , Broadgreen and Hunts Cross Stations. There is no charge for taking bicycles onto Mersey Travel trains. By Road From North Wales
Exit Birkenhead Tunnel and take the A59 (signposted Preston ). Continue through the shopping area after passing Walton Hospital and HMP Liverpool on the left. The road forks at the traffic lights at the Black Bull pub, get in the right hand lane and turn right at the next set of lights onto Long Lane, continue on this road and turn left at the first set of traffic lights onto Brookfield Drive .
HMP Altcourse is approximately 1/4 mile on your left.
