OFFICIAL VISITS
Official visitors will be permitted to enter with document files (subject
to search), but not with mobile telephones or other electronic equipment.
Audio and video playing facilities will be made available if requested
at the time of booking. |
Visitor identification
All visitors to closed prisons, who are over the age of 18, whether
visiting for social or official purposes are required to prove their
identity at Reception. A list of acceptable forms of identification
can be obtained on request.
Legal Visits
Will be conducted privately but within the sight of visits
staff. Such visits will normally be held in consulting rooms set aside
for this purpose, rather than in the main Visits Hall. When requested
in advance, video and audio playing facilities will be made available
for the use of professional visitors. A pay phone will be made available
outside the visits hall. |
Police Visits
In addition to completing the Official Visits Register, a Request
for Police Interview form must also be completed. Unless indicated
to the contrary by the booking police force, the prisoner must be
contacted and advised of the visit so that the presence of the prisoner's
legal representative can be arranged by the prisoner.
Other Facilities for Official Visitors
- Power to each official visit booth
- Video and TV can be provided on request (one per session only)
- Tape recording facilities are not available. The police/customs
are allowed to bring these items into the prison, if authorised
by the Duty Director, but must declare them on entering the prison.

visitors will normally be required to book their visit at least 24
hours in advance.
